Timothy Gaewsky

Timothy Gaewsky is a painter whose work is influenced by retro video games and explores the dubious nature of memory through the lens of nostalgia and sentimentality. Gaewsky earned an MFA from Vermont College of Fine Arts and a BFA from The Cleveland Institute of Art. He has exhibited both nationally and abroad including at the Ella Sharp Museum (Jackson, MI), Toledo Museum of Art (Toledo, OH), AC Institute (NYC, NY),  and Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art (Rotterdam, NL). His work has been highlighted in exhibition reviews from Hyperallergic, the Columbus Dispatch, the Toledo Blade, and the Akron Beacon Journal. His work has also appeared in art and literary publications such as DIALOGIST and Eclipse and has been a featured artist at Young Space (yngspc.com). Gaewsky was a 2020 Artist-in-Residence at Akron Soul Train, Akron, OH. Gaewsky is also the recipient of two Ohio Arts Council Individual Excellence Award fellowships for 2021 and 2015. Timothy currently lives and works in Cleveland, OH.
