Consequences, 2021

Acrylic on wood panel

10" x 10" x 2"

"Consequences" is one of a series of wild cat portraits I'm currently working on. I wanted to paint a melanistic jaguar at night, and started painting right as the heat dome and fires started over the Pacific Northwest of the U.S. I have no words to express how devastated I am over the mass losses of wildlife happening around the world due to the climate crisis, so I must paint about it. Our petroleum-fueled lifestyle will eventually affect everyone on the planet. 20% of the sale of this painting will be donated to the Center for Biological Diversity.
